Frances Bell

I am Frances Bell, a Learning Technology Fellow for the Faculty of
Business, Law and the Built Environment at the University of Salford.
I worked on the project where this space CABWEB was created, with the
intention of creating spaces for staff and students to engage in
international collaboration online.  Most of the students spaces are
private but you can look at the archives of past discussions, by
clicking on HELP  and scrolling down to the archive section.
My first CABWEB profile entry included the question of "how we can promote open communication between staff and students from many countries".  No matter how many new tools and users join in Internet communication open communication remains a (sometimes unrecognised) challenge.

I have also worked on the Hearts of Salford project
where older people from Salford with Coronary Heart DIsease have formed
a virtual community (now managed by themselves).  Some of the spaces
allow guest access.

I am very interested in the concept of digital inclusion - that
people should not be excluded from the exciting possibilities of
learning, having fun and doing business online by age, gender,
disability or reasons of culture or economics.
